Oakfield Developments won The Birmingham Post & Mail House Design Awards for our Whitehaven project. The “house on stilts” impressed the judging team, giving us the top prize as well as coverage through the following news article:
Our Whitehaven project also received Bronze in the What House? Magazine Awards in the Best Luxury House category. The judges report acknowledged some of the challenges that we faced:
“The site is subject to tight local planning controls and few developers would have risen to the challenge with the flair and originality demonstrated here by Oakfield.”
Our Whitehaven project also won the National Homebuild Design Award in the ‘best house of one or two storeys’ category. The National Homebuilder Design Awards look for ‘outstanding examples of housing design’ throughout the UK and Ireland, demonstrating how groundbreaking our Whitehaven project really was.
A year after being voted the overall winner for our Whitehaven project, we took the 2006 title at the House Design Awards in the Starter Homes category with our Jefferson place scheme. This scheme consisted of constructing 35 one and two bedroom apartments aimed at first buyers which was described as being:
“possibly one of the best value for money schemes we have seen for many a year…”
